For several years my partner has encouraged our firm to move to the remote desktop environment. I am older than my partner and not as computer savvy. Our firm had previously made several technology moves over the last couple of years, up to and including a paperless environment. I was getting tired of the constant change and wanted to take a technology break before moving to the remote desktop environment.
A further complication in my mind was the CCH suite of products we use that are very interactive such as Practice Management, Engagement and ProSystems FX Tax. Our audit software, CCH Engagement is very interactive and has frequent complicated updates and license management issues. Could an outside provider keep our tools up to date?
After our firm's partners attended an all-day IT training about moving to a hosted environment which dispelled many of the misconceptions about added risk, we decided to convert to the remote environment with a hosted server at Desktop Co-op.
Much to my surprise, after the first several weeks of transitions it has been very easy to navigate, access key information on the fly and our system has never been this secure. Our software licenses and updates are managed by the Desktop Co-op and NetTec NSI team. We have also been given access to a 24/7 NetTec managed services hardware support for one all-inclusive price.
Our CCH product licenses and updates are done automatically, freeing up our time to better serve our clients.
